Running Away

Ethan ran away from home today. Almost.
It all began when Ethan wanted to go nextdoor to play with a neighbor. I said that would be fine but he needed to put on some pants (he was wearing long johns and pajama shorts). He suddenly got very sad and said that he was running away from home. Here's a bit of how it went:
Ethan: "I'm running away..."
Me: "Your running away? But where will you go?"
Ethan: "I'll go to where uncle Bill used to live."
Me: "But how will you get there? It's a really long way away!"
Ethan: "Umm...I'll maybe walk or take dads truck...or ride my scooter!"
Me: "That would take a long time...how will you get money to eat?"
Ethan: "I'll buy some money."
Me: "Okay...well...I'll miss you. You better take a coat and a blanket."
Ethan: "Nope...I'm okay. Bye." *turns toward the door..scooter in hand...looking very unsure.
I hid by the window and took pictures. He gets to the end of our front walk, stands there for about a minute looking off into the distance

Then he comes back to the door and knocks.
I open the door.
Ethan: "What do you want?"
Me: "What do you mean what do I want? What do you want?"
Ethan: "Do you want me to stay or not?"
Me: "Well of course I want you to stay! Why are you leaving?"
Ethan: "Because you don't let me do whatever I want!"
Me: "Ethan...your 5. Your not supposed to do whatever you want."
Ethan turns back to leave and this time makes it to the mailbox and stands there looking off into the distance.

Then comes back and knocks on the door.
I answer and he walks in and stays.
Then he crawled in my lap on the couch and cried for a good 5 minutes because he was afraid he was going to leave.

A Tribute

If you have ever been to a Nelson Christmas...then you remember the time Uncle Gary (Mr.State Rep) ended up in a blond wig. Well...I think my dad is following suit. So...here's to you Uncle Gary! A tribute to the folically challenged in our lives!

Cohen and Chezney

I heard some giggling and walked around the corner to find the twins playing. Chezney had climbed up on the stool and Cohen was trying to get a hold of her feet from beneath. It was pretty cute.

Time

Well, time is getting away from me again! I cannot believe I have neglected my blog for almost a week! I did my final presentation for school tonight, so I am offically on winter break from college and it feels great!
I have been keeping busy with 7 photoshoots in the past two weeks which has kept me on the computer editing in my "spare" time. I'm down to only two sessions to go...so hopefully I'll have some time to hear funny things my kids have been saying or get a few cute snapshots!

The Belated Birthday Pictures

Danissa celebrated her birthday last month and I neglected to post any pictures of her birthday party! This year she had the option of having a class party or a large family party. She opted for a small "just us" family birthday(which ended up including our small group since her birthday was on the same day we get together) and a large class party at the bowling alley.
Authors note: Sorry to the grandparents that sent money to Danissa and didn't get to see her... I fully intended for her to send thank you notes and just never got around to it...so thank you! She truly enjoyed having a few bucks in her pocket!!!) Danissa with some of her closest friends. I can just see them growing up and being little chatty teenagers together!
Cosmic bowling...what can be better?!

Curly Hair

Everyone in this family has straight hair...at least...all of us but me. And I didn't have curly hair till my pregnancy with Ethan. And look at Chezney....her hair is so pretty. It's funny though...her hair is completely straight when it's dry...so most people don't even know that she has curly-ish hair.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was so great this year. We were able to have our first Thanksgiving with my family in 6 years, and we even snuck in a second Thanksgiving meal with Mikes moms family the day after Thanskgiving (which I forgot my camera card...so I have no pictures of...)!

On Thanksgiving, we enjoyed good decor... Great food....
Good song....
Meaningful story....
Good company...
And heartfelt prayer....
For these things, we count our blessings.
